There currently no way to control which entities linkchecker is scanning because the check is only based on field configuration.

It's likely this issue predates Contrib.social: some issue and comment data are missing.
Since I dropped ✨ Provide a config to control which entity type to check Closed: outdated I can maybe also drop this. I will think about if I still see a need for this. In any case it's much easier to implement and maintain a hook than a config based solution.
