Import taxonomies

Testing the module, I think it works remarkable well, and provides a better UX than the two alternatives I've examined:

(I am a co-maintainer for User Import, but it is basically a Drupal 6 module with a lot of technological debt and orphan code, and I like this one better.)

So: Thanks for a great module!

Most fields (including plain text, links, integers, booleans, telephone numbers and dates) are imported as one would expect.

However, taxonomy terms do not.

So this is a feature request to add taxonomy terms to what one can import.

The use-case is membership module where the type of membership ("ordinary", "student", "retired", etc. is a taxonomy vocabulary), and the client is upgrading from keeping the registry in MS Excel to Drupal 9, and this is best implemented as a taxonomy.

A workaround is to import the terms as text and provide some method to convert that into a taxonomy, as discussed @ Drupal.Answers – but I hope a more direct solution can be found.
