Native forms instead of Google forms?

Hi all

Seeing the CWG is using Google forms for the Aaron Winborn award nomination I'm again reminded that I wanted to figure out why native Drupal forms aren't used for cases like this - obviously the Webform module comes to mind.

A Twitter response indicated lack of resources, so I just wanted to understand if Webform had been considered and found problematic for whatever reason, or if it's a case of nobody having found the time/energy to look into it.

Either way I'd be happy to volunteer to help make this happen.

Using a native solution like Webform would please a lot of folks who don't like sending data to third party providers when it can be avoided, specifically Google.

There's also the rather strange optics of being the home of an amazing and powerful CMS, but using Google forms for basic data collection.

Lastly, I assume the work of the folks processing the submissions could be reduced if the submission results automatically link to the submitting user account and nominated user account.

I'm sure there's even more advantages to keeping all forms on-site.

Thanks.
