When using the new Gin Theme the moderation sidebar is not displayed anymore. This is due to the non display of the secondary toolbar when your are outside the backend theme.
Install new gin theme and gin_toolbar, go to a frontend theme page. The status is not displayed and the toolbar doesn't show up.

It's likely this issue predates Contrib.social: some issue and comment data are missing.
This issue is resolved by enabling the "Show Secondary Toolbar in Frontend" in the Gin theme settings at /admin/appearance/settings/gin. This setting is available at least as of Gin 3.0-rc1.
Some problems with the Moderation Sidebar icon and toolbar tab responsiveness remain. Those can be addressed by ✨ Tasks icon CSS not compatible with Gin theme Needs review or by installing Gin Moderation Sidebar → .
