If you configure the double reference label formatter to output the referenced entities as links, it will also generate links to entities for which the user doesn't have access to. Clicking on this link will render an access denied page.

Since double_reference_label formatter duplicates most of the logic of the entity_reference_label formatter (for rendering the second entity reference), it should also include this fix.
