Offering to maintain Database Info

Created on 16 September 2021, about 3 years ago
Updated 31 August 2023, about 1 year ago

Database Info has been automatically opened to new maintainer applications, as it will otherwise become unsupported with the end of life of Drupal 8 on 2 Nov, 2021.
This is an adaptation of our existing process for transferring project maintainership .

After the standard 14-day waiting period from this issue being opened, if an existing maintainer has not closed it, this project is eligible for new maintainers, without necessarily waiting for existing maintainers’ approval.

Next steps:

  • An existing maintainer may close this issue and opt out of this accelerated process.
  • A prospective new maintainer can take this issue after the 14 day window has
elapsed and take the following steps to be added as a maintainer:
    • Comment here explaining why you would like to maintain the module.
    • If the project is opted in to security coverage, confirm that you have previously received security coverage opt-in permission.
    • If an existing maintainer has not commented, move the issue to the Drupal.org Project Ownership queue, by editing the “Project” field on this issue.
  • The Drupal.org site moderators will review the issue, and if it meets the requirements can grant you maintainer access.

    Hello Team,

I see this module seeking new maintainer. I would like to become a maintainer of the module to update a codebase, prepare it for Drupal 10 and implement new features.

    Checklist
Project covered by Drupal’s security advisory policy: No
Permission to opt into Drupal’s security advisory policy: Yes

    Thanks!

Rajan Kumar, why do you want to maintain this?

The module has zero reported installs, which means that nobody (including you) is using it.

If you have some time available to help the community, please consider helping out updating something that is actually used.

    Hi gislem

The idea of this module is to show database table and data in Drupal UI. It will be helpful in various case like

    1) If developer writing some query and need to check the values in DB they can easily/quick access using UI.
    2) In some case if developer has no mysql/DB access but they need to see the table structure then they can easily see using UI.

Also, I have not found any other module which provide this type of features.
that's why I want to maintain this module.

    Thanks,
    Rajan

I have not found any other module which provide this type of features.
that's why I want to maintain this module.

I believe that most people use phpMyAdmin for this use case. In addition, there is Views Database Connector if you want to use a Drupal module to examine database tables. That project is opted into security coverage and has a Drupal 10 release.

I believe one of these two alternatives covers the use case you describe and still do not understand why you want to resurrect this unused module.

Two weeks has gone by without any reply. I am closing, as no argument has been put forward by the OP for we should keep on maintaining this abandoned project when alternatives exist.
