8.x-2.x roadmap

Problem/Motivation

The 8.x-1.x branch was a faithful port from D7 to D8, but fields have come a long way since then. Several tickets in the queue suggest slight to dramatically different ways of configuring field permissions, so we're starting a new branch to track & move.
