Player is loading GTM multiple times

I have the GTM plugin installed on my brightcove player, but every time I load the player on my site (via this module) it loads another instance of GTM. So on pages with 5 videos I have 6 GTM loads, once from me loading it and 5 times through the player load. Brightcove support suggest that the multiple loads is due to the setup of the video player in the module, not on their end.
