As it stands right now, the only link properties other than the text and URL are 'active' and 'active-trail'.
Another bit of information about links that could be useful when theming is to know whether a link is external or not.
For example, you may want to open external links in a new tab, give it different styling, and so on.
Get the 'external' property from the url object and put it in the simplified link array.
