Automatic alias generation doesn't work for groups

Problem/Motivation

After adding a pattern to /admin/config/search/path/patterns, neither creating a new group nor saving an existing one creates the alias.

Steps to reproduce

Create a pattern in /admin/config/search/path/patterns.
Create a group OR edit then save an existing group.
No alias is created.

It possibly has something to do with this:
