Redirects fail and website errors after updating to 7.x-1.0-rc4

Following the module upgrade, the website is throwing 500 errors and the following log entries:

Error: Unsupported operand types in redirect_redirect() (line 1093 of \sites\all\modules\redirect\redirect.module).

Notice: unserialize(): Error at offset 0 of 12 bytes in RedirectController->attachLoad() (line 15 of \sites\all\modules\redirect\redirect.controller.inc).

Notice: unserialize(): Error at offset 0 of 12 bytes in RedirectController->attachLoad() (line 16 of \sites\all\modules\redirect\redirect.controller.inc).

The source_options and redirect_options columns were changed from a nvarchar(max) to varbinary(max) and the data appears to be good.
