There is a need to customize the message displayed by this message after a user submits the password reset (user_pass) form. Could the message currently used, "If the username or email address exists and is active, further instructions have been sent to your email address." be used as a default config value, that can be customized in a config form or hook/event?
I realize alternatively, custom code could replace the submit callback username_enumeration_prevention_pass_submit() to add own custom message, but curious if a patch for this feature request would be considered.
