This module rocks. well done. How about amplifying it by adding an option for blocks to have also as a parent their regions. So for example in a react SPA you can dynamically reproduce the drupal region+block logic but decoupled, and each block is in it's region. That region will be provided in the data structure if it has blocks else there will be no need to provide it.
Sounds as a good idea to me.
