Order not preserved after item removal

Problem/Motivation

When the removal button is clicked, the previous order of elements is not preserved. I have seen this occur when the number of items is unlimited, but it may also affect fields that only allow a limited number of elements.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Create an entity reference field on a node
  2. Allow unlimited entries
  3. Add multiple elements to the field and save
  4. Edit the content and attempt to remove existing elements
  5. You will see here that after each removal the order of elements has changed
