The media_entity_facebook 8.x-2.0-beta1 module on D8.9.2 works as designed, thank you.
This feature request is about the language in which the rendered entity is displayed. As shown in the attachment, the default choice for a Facebook post in Belgium is flemish; it would be nice to be able to change that setting.
The language of the rendered entity has been discussed quite a while ago → with a patch fot the media_entity_facebook.services.yml file.
In the FacebookEmbedFormatter.php file, there is a $langcode variable at line 27. Allowing users to choose a language in the module UI would be just perfect but a patch to allow the implementation of the default language would already be nice.

It's likely this issue predates Contrib.social: some issue and comment data are missing.
Right now, it is not a planned feature.
If someone makes a patch or MR, I'll review it and maybe consider doing that way. What blocks me in that Facebook has strict permission approvals for Oembed API and makes hard to get it, so not many people will bother that.
