Incompability with "Font Awesome Menu Icons" Module

Hi,

I would like to use the fontawesome_menu_icons module that requires the fontawesome module.
When we enable fontawesome module we loose the mobile navigation as referred on the issue 3061556 💬 Navigation mobile Fixed .

Is there an easy way to use icons on the menus without installing fontawesome?
Any change of manking the theme compatible with it?
