IP Address 47.107.231.180 is not assigned to a country despite what ARIN says on their website?

I saw today in my Watchdog log entries that 47.107.231.180 accessed my site. Figuring this wasn't from the United States, I took to looking into it... After learning that this IP address was from China, it made me suspect that something must be wrong with ip2country or the data it's supposed to be using from ARIN. So I went into admin/config/people/ip2country to manually look up the IP address after manually-updating the ARIN entries (to be sure I was using up-to-date ARIN data). Everything updated okay but the manual lookup indicates the following:

IP Address 47.107.231.180 is not assigned to a country.

The ARIN website even says it's Chinese when I searched that IP address directly from their website.

Any ideas why this is happening?

    I switched the database loading strategy like I suggested in #4. The issue is πŸ“Œ Improve service for fetching data Fixed .

    With this new strategy, your original test case of 47.107.231.180 DOES come up in CN as expected, because it is served from the RIR that has authority for China.

    I believe the data is now a lot better, because we're not relying on potentially incomplete and outdated data download from a specific RIR but instead are querying all 5 RIRs to get from each only the data that they are responsible for maintaining.

    This was done in 2.1.x. I'm not planning on backporting it to Drupal 7.
