I cannot reproduce the problem any more. It seems that https://git.drupalcode.org/project/group_content_menu/-/commit/20cb949fc... fixed the problem.

The menu item and any child items are also removed from the menu.

The change is currently missing an automated test that fails when run with the original code, and succeeds when the bug has been fixed.
Not all content is available!
It's likely this issue predates Contrib.social: some issue and comment data are missing.
