Acquia DAM media source not compatible with core media library

When adding media items with acquia dam source to drupal core media library, I am unable to browse and select assets in the DAM itself. It appears that there is a plugin for entity browser contrib module, but as a user I want to be able to use DAM with the media library.

To reproduce:

- Create a Acquia DAM media bundle and add a node field w/ entity ref
- Configure the field on entity form display to use the 'Media Library' display, ensure you add the newly created bundle
- Add a new node type you just created - you will be unable to access the DAM.

I believe the logic for authentication/retrieval etc from DAM that is in the entity browser plugin just needs to be ported to a new core media widget.
