At this point I'm ending further support for the D7 version due to the coming EOL, but if another developer would like to reopen this, please do so.
On sites configured with the Drupal 7 codebase installed in a subfolder (e.g. www.mySite.com/MyDrupal7/) the URL will resolve to https://www.mySite.com/node/add/content-type instead of https://www.mySite.com/MyDrupal7/node/add/content-type.
Removing the leading slash before node on line 124 of the file views_add_button_area.inc solves the problem. Sorry I can't make a dif file from my phone.
