I am unable to uninstall this module even after removing all fields under the field collection. Steps I followed
1. Remove all fields under field collection
2. Remove the field from content type wehre the field collection was used
3. Ran cron
4. Under uninstall tab the module is greyed out, it says
The following reason prevents Field collection from being uninstalled:
There is content for the entity type: Field Collection Item. Remove field collection item entities.
I also then deleted the data and contet type that uses field collection.
I appreciate the help as this module is no longer supported I would like to delete it.

Not all content is available!
It's likely this issue predates Contrib.social: some issue and comment data are missing.
Like @hockey2112 mentioned, ultimately you just need to delete the data from the tables after removing the Field Collection fields from your nodes, and then you will be able to uninstall this module. Typically what I do in a situation like this is make a copy of the tables (structure and data) then delete the data from the actual tables. In this case, it works without the other steps listed in previous comments.
