#12 worked for me. Unpublished a node and remove URL aliases from which node you want to redirect to another node where you want to redirect this node.

See the screenshots, the manually entered redirect at the top of the list of redirects does nothing, the two redirects below were created automatically because of changed URL aliases, they do work.
I have tested this in various ways, but can't make it work, I suppose this isn't a bug as it is primary functionality.
Eventually this should redirect to a views page, but since that didn't work, for testing, I tried a redirect to a node page.
