I'm sorry bring this up again, but It happened again on another website, and now on drupal 9. I prepared a patch for those who have my issue. This patch will revert this thread change, so be careful.
Currently hypens - are not allowed on pattern names, although hyphens are common choices as twig filenames words separators, i.e. page-front.twig, search-bar.twig, etc.
As UI Patterns change landed few months ago is worth allowing hyphens - on patterns name from this library as well.
Review and Merge the patch.
