I was thinking whether the workbench integration can be moved into a submodule.
The idea is that the module's functionality is completely independent from the workbench integration and the "published_at" can be used for other projects as well other than workbench moderation.
Normally, this should be a different module (that can have the 'workbench_moderation' dependency in the composer as well, but also for the current one, we could have it as a submodule, especially given that it is a tiny bit confusing maybe for someone that is fairly new.
Setting this as a submodule with a hard dependency seems more proper.
However, feel free to reject the idea. Here is a patch :)
