Problem/Motivation

The First Time Contributors Workshop at DrupalCons needs to be updated with more streamlined and segmented formatting and materials.

Proposed resolution

As discussed at DrupalCon Seattle, we will create an outline/guide for running a workshop that introduces a large group to the general concepts and universal tools to contribute to Drupal, then break down into a smaller group for tasks such as installing tools for local development.

Retrospective spreadsheet here for reference & see related tasks for materials, tools, retrospective meeting.

Meeting notes for focus group to collaborate on (to be moved to this issue after the meeting)

Remaining tasks

  • What does the workshop look like now?
  • Review retrospective doc and issue β†’ for tasks per team discussion and input here
  • Define what the workshop aims to achieve
  • Define what's needed to make that happen
  • List out materials that need to be created or recreated
  • Discuss vetting the quicksprint process at MIDCamp (the last major NA camp before DrupalCon) and then having a code freeze
  • Define where this all gets kept and referenced (links from other places)
  • Create a plan and system for regular updates of these materials
  • Assign tasks to create the pieces needed, preparation plan with relative dates from [event]
  • Implement with dates for Amsterdam
