Currently farmOS will automatically calculate the area (acres/hectares) of simple polygon areas, and will display that in the area details popup, and on the area record page.
This calculated area is not always correct, and in some cases (especially on smaller areas like beds) it would be useful to specify the exact know area.
This feature request is to add a field to areas that allows adding a specific area measurement. This will also need to include a units field.
