Getting Sendgrid exception even though response code is 200

I updated the SendGrid module to version 8.x-1.2. I have read the changes made to the api and I understand that now an \Sendgrid\Exception is thrown if the code is not 200. My code worked fine before this update, but now even when the code is 200 I get a Sendgrid\exception. This is the error message:SendGrid\Exception: {"message":"success"} in SendGrid\Client->send() (line 112 of /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/.../.../vendor/fastglass/sendgrid/src/Client.php).
