Here version for any field types that extend EntityReference.
Indexing of referencing file entities isn't supported in the current release. The reason is the field type of referencing entities after installing file_entity has not become 'entity_reference'. It continues being `image` or `file`.

The change is currently missing an automated test that fails when run with the original code, and succeeds when the bug has been fixed.
