Add endpoint to prepopulate verification from services like Web Audit

An API endpoint to add verification information to a site? In theory this could be achieved using Rest module + ConfigEntity ( ✨ Provide exportable configuration Active ).

It's not functionality that many users of the module would be using so code would go in sub-module or separate module. I tried looking for a generic module which would allow REST updates to config entities but didn't have much luck.

With the authentication requirement and setup required to get a REST endpoint going, isn't that more work than just copy'n'pasting the verification data info this module?
