For anyone stumbling upon this issue the answer is [0] instead of "0", basicly just put brackets there and it gets parsed just fine. Not sure why. Probably 0 = false in normal context or so.
If the JSONPath expression 0, it doesn't get parsed. The issue persists both when the key is explicitly 0 in the feeds or when there are no keys and we try to parse the first item with the expression 0.
