Autosubmit does not work on initial page load, but does after Apply button is clicked

Problem/Motivation

I have a taxonomy term filter on a view that I have set to use Better Exposed Filters. It is a single select item, and I have tried it both as radio buttons and as the default. I have the autosubmit button checked. In all cases, I get the same result. On initial page load, the change event is not added to the form. However, if I choose an option and click the "Apply" button, the callback is added, and all subsequent changes to the form will trigger the AJAX request.
