The authentication settings form has been rewritten, and the described behaviour most likely can not longer be reproduced.
Automatically closed - issue fixed for 2 weeks with no activity.
If you add a basic authentication in the form and then uncheck the basic authentication checkbox that will hide the insert form fields for username and password, but it will still use the text strings in those hidden field when try to connect to elasticsearch server.
I think if the checkbox is unchecked it shouldn't use username and password strings in the hidden form fields.
