As per the comment on the related issue ( https://www.drupal.org/node/2227583 → ), by the module creator, I've added an option of 4 message types (warning,info,danger,success), but since I've also changed the way settings are saved, I've made a separate issue.
Before doing that I have moved the admin settings to use a more objective approach, as I think it should be done in Drupal 8. The admin settings were also moved to their own subpage on the admin menu.
Below you will find the two patches, one being the settings form modification and the last one adding the message types.

It's likely this issue predates Contrib.social: some issue and comment data are missing.
This won't be fixed for Drupal 8 but has been addressed in the new D9/D10 version of the module. The message types from the D7 version has yet to be ported across.
