I wrote a port of this module to D8 and created it as a sandbox project → .
Looks like not many people are using this module in D7, but it's been very useful for our content creators and is a huge time saver. It also fills a different need for us than Menu Position (which we also use quite a bit). Hopefully this is of use to others!
