I could not reproduce the issue on a current 8.x-1.x-dev branch.
The issue could be closed if confirmed by a maintainer.
On fresh D8.37 with

Only thumbnails are showing, but no toolbar ( Image count, Zoom, Fullscreen, download & Close) which makes it impossible to close the Lightgallery
With version 1.4 or the current 1.61 both the Toolbar and the Thumbnails are missing.

It's likely this issue predates Contrib.social: some issue and comment data are missing.
