Can you describe why the extension would be preferable to be made via the plugin system vs a conventional class extension?

Can you please update the project's description explaining what business goal you're accomplishing by modifying the entity type this way. I think what you're doing is cool and all. I just don't understand why this is needed.
What situations are you encountering that forces you to go to this level of modification of the system?
