I spotted the note on trying to use the REGION names from the SDK in V3 for 7.x.
I'd like to offer some help for it and will try to make the patch asap as it covers 2 projects I'm working on, both on Drupal 7.
Just a quick question, is it similar in D8 version?

Drupal 7 will reach end of life on January 5th.
The 7.x branches of S3FS do not have any additional planned releases.
The requests in this issue have already been implemented in the 8.x-3.x and newer releases.
