According to the release date, the 8 branch of this module hasn't been worked on since 2013. However there are issues in this queue relating to the d8 module from the last 12 months that suggest that the module works. I have found that it's impossible to install this module in it's current state... things like cache.cache being replaced by cache.default suggest it is indeed this old.
What's the actual status of the d8 module? I'm currently in the process of rewriting it for 8.2, will report back.
