I noticed that Weight field's value is empty by default, but it should be either 0 or 1 based on the currently implemented logic.
After that, I tried to set the default weight to a positive integer without specifying a default referenced entity. The configuration has not been saved, but when I set the default referenced entity as well then the default weight get saved too.

The change is currently missing an automated test that fails when run with the original code, and succeeds when the bug has been fixed.
