Queued Mails not going

Queued emails are not going during normal cron run.
When I manually run the cron then the emails are going.What can be the issue?

    Hi
    When I run cron it says
    SMTP Queue There are 45 messages queued for delivery. Delivery of the message(s) will be attempted the next time cron runs.
    And if I run cron again this message remains

    It could be an old thing in a different version of smtp
    Anyway, where are stocked the queued massages ??
    I was not able to find them in the data base
