Disable registration menu after user registration limit reaches

Once the user registration limit reaches right now it is not showing any message on top of user registration page, it would be better if we display on top of user registration page/block and if possible disable the signup button.

please share your thoughts.

Currently in the latest stable version, Once the Limit is reached /user/register will be access denied for users.
