I have views that list nodes with attached files that can be downloaded. Some of the files are available to all visitors to the site and others only to users with particular roles.
If the view includes files that are public and others that are not, all of the available files appear when the user is an admin. But a user who has a role permitting him/her to download the private files only sees the public files in the listing. Once views encounters files in the public file system that satisfy the query it does not search the private file system for files satisfying the query.

Sorry for my late, late, late reply but this project is basically unmaintained (only few minor fixes and only for the most recent version).
I'm closing this issue ticket because the 7.x-2.x branch has just been archived.
Feel free to reopen if it persists with the latest 3.x branch.
