Error messages seemed to be retained from the install.
Steps to reproduce:
1) Run installer
2) Make a mistake on the last screen. I found this by having a mismatched password.
3) Correct the mistake. Install completes successfully.
4) On the first page load of the new site (default front page) the error message appears.
The install uses a variable for the error messages, since blocks are not enabled. It seems it does not clear the "messages queue" like the block does when it renders.
