Views exposed filters stop working in custom region declared in node.tpl

I created a new region in the info file

regions[author_posts] = Other posts by author

and rendered it using

print render(block_get_blocks_by_region('author_posts')); in my node.tpl (So the blocks in the region show up between the content and comment form)

The views block assigned to the region shows except the exposed filters won't work.

When i assign the block to other regions in the subtheme the exposed filters work fine.

What am i doing wrong???
