Since Drupal 7 is now end-of-life I am closing some old issues for the 7.x branch of this module. If this issue is still relevant for the 3.x branch of the module, then feel free to reopen it.

it's almost 3:00am in France, I'm exhausted and don't have the strength to properly explain it all, but I just tested Entity Translation with both the multi-value and the single-value widgets of IEF. It works with the multi-value provided I first apply the following patch https://drupal.org/node/1674792 however it does not work with the single value widget.
My Entity Reference field is non-translatable (shared), I reference a basic Entity (Nested Box actually) that only contains one simple body text field which is translatable.
If I use the multi-value widget, I can edit different text for english and french, and it all works fine. As soon as I use the single value widget instead, the text field gets synchronized between French and English.
