This whole UI is being removed at 📌 Remove adding an extension via a URL Fixed so closing this as outdated.
The update manager reports that a theme (AdaptiveTheme) should be updated. I select the update and the update process is completed without warnings. Afterwards, I check the updates and see that the same update is shown. When I look into the files, I notice that the update has created a subdirectory containing the most recent version.
So in stead of installing the update under sites/all, the update is installed under sites/all/adpativetheme.
I have checked file/folder permissions: they are all 777.
