There is little chance this will make it into core, under the reasoning that they already have a description field that you can place above the form field element, below label. I'm going to close this as Wont Fix.
This is a great module, but I'd like to eliminate it. Maybe that could be done in D8 #314385: Make position of #description configurable via the API →
But if not, let's make it happen in D9!
