Easier to use interface

The current interface has afew drawbacks:

While the block to some extent displays the clipboard's content, it could do a better job in making the interface transparent and intuitive:

  • The blocktitle should be something more generic such as "Comment mover" or "Comment clipboard" rather than "Graft"
  • As stated before, we should use AJAX avoiding reloads
  • It should be clear whether a node or a comment has been "pruned"
  • We should also display the child comments (aka replies), at least in a summary.
  • In a collapsed fieldset, we might want to show the first paragraphs of the body, which is more meaningful than just the title
  • The "Cancel" link should probably be a button instead

Also, the main region's interface could use some improvements:

  • If a "pruned" comment appears in the block it should at the same time be hidden from the main display.
  • If the block for some reason isn't visible, we need some visual indication what is currently being "pruned"
  • Some JS could help expose a comment's children in the comment tree
  • Even nicer if there was some drag'n'drop interface

More ideas how to improve the interface?
Let's discuss here and settle with some solution.
Other projects like http://drupal.org/project/clipboard might be a source of inspiration how this can be done best.
And we should keep the other feature requests in the project's queue in mind, so our design caters for additional functionality as well.

Some good ideas here, and some were clearly implemented in the D7 release. I've made a note of some to consider in the D9/10 release.

Closing, as unlikely to get implemented for D6.
