Username with hyphens

Hello,

I mistakenly created a Git username with hyphens in it (-sam-). It was the same as my then-username (I now changed my username, hoping my git username would change with it, alas), and I didn't know hyphens are viewed as prefixes to commands in a Git Bash. So now I cannot login on drupal's git, it gives me an error every time I try to connect, because it views the -s part as a command.
I was wondering if there is anything I can do, other than create a new profile? Is there a command that escapes dashes (I tried the ^ but than it sees my username as ^-sam^-) or another way of logging in to git?
