Support multiple comment forms per page

I am using a view that displays the comment form for each node. If I submit a comment for one node, all forms are replaced by the "comment submitted" message and the new comment. This is caused by:

$commands[] = ajax_command_before('h2.comment-form', $notify_text . $comment_text);

This may be related to the D6 ajax comments issue http://drupal.org/node/743040.
